beta TESTING

Are you interested in becoming a sciPROOF BETA tester?

What is Beta Testing?

Beta testing is the final phase of product testing. Since it is impossible to mimic all software environments, system configurations, etc. “in-house,” the software is sent to a group of testers. Beta testers report technical problems and provide suggestions for improvement. This is a critical phase of development because it allows us to identify and fix problems prior to full product release.

Beta Tester Rewards Program

Feedback from our Beta testers is crucial for successful product development. Beta testers will have the first view of our software and will receive the full, non-beta version of the product at a discount or at no charge. The discount is valid after release of the full, non-beta version and only applies to the version tested. The level of discount will be determined by the number of beta testing rounds that are completed. For example, if 10% of the rounds are completed, testers receive a 10% discount, half of the rounds, a 50% discount, and if all stages are completed, testers receive a 100% discount. Since testing is an evolving process, the total number of stages cannot be determined in advance.

After each round, participants will be required to complete and return a brief questionnaire in order to be considered for the next level of testing. Testers can enter or exit the program at any stage. Please note that testers may be excluded from the program if their feedback is not satisfactory for several rounds of testing. In this case, the participant will be warned before exclusion, and if excluded, the tester will be credited with the appropriate discount for any rounds that were completed successfully.

Beta Tester Requirements

Beta-testers should be able to perform the following basic tasks:

  • You will be expected to provide a detailed description of any problems, as well as any suggestions you may have for improving the product.
  • Ability to download and install/uninstall software.
  • Basic computer knowledge and the ability to work with standard software applications. Testers must be able to perform tasks such as manage files and folders (find/delete/create/rename/replace/modify/pack and unpack), detect systems setting (version of operating system and installed updates), manage tasks (start/end tasks or view list of running applications with the Task Manager), etc.
  • Reasonable knowledge of Microsoft Office (ability to detect version of MS Office, change settings, etc.), an understanding of the spell-checking process, and ability to change spell-checker settings is a plus.
